Municipal Election 2025 – November 4th
The Municipal Election was held on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The election was citywide for the offices of Mayor, Councilor-at-Large, School Committee, as well as each ward Councilor.
Last day to register to vote for the Municipal Election is Friday, October 24, 2025. The City Clerk’s office will remain open until 5:00 p.m. for those who want to register in person. Otherwise, you may register to vote online at the following link: On-Line Voter Registration.
Absentee Ballots and Vote by Mail Applications
Absentee ballots are available for all eligible voters for the 2025 Municipal Election. A written application must be filed by all voters seeking to vote by absentee ballot. Ballots may be mailed to voters upon written request. A voter may also vote by absentee ballot in the office of the City Clerk.

Last day to apply for a vote by mail application for the Municipal Election is Tuesday, October 28, 2025. The application must be received in the City Clerk’s office by 5:00 p.m. If the application is being sent through the mail, the application still must be received in the office by 5:00 p.m., as a postmarked date of October 28, 2025 is not sufficient.
Last day to apply for an absentee ballot (in person) for the Preliminary Election is Monday, November 3, 2025 at 12:00 noon.

Municipal Preliminary Election 2025 – August 26th
The Municipal Preliminary Election 2025 was held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The preliminary election was for Ward 1 Councilor only. All other offices did not meet the participation levels for a preliminary election and appeared on the Municipal Election ballot without a preliminary election.
Generally, there will be a Preliminary Election for a particular office if there are three or more candidates for Mayor, five or more candidates for Councilor-at-Large, three or more candidates for Ward Councilor, or eleven or more candidates for School Committee. If a particular office does not meet those participation levels, candidates for that office will appear on the Municipal Election ballot without a Preliminary Election.
