The Woburn Council on Aging is a municipal, volunteer board appointed by the Mayor. It is the responsibility of the Council to identify the needs of the communities elder population and available resources, to educate the community at large regarding the needs of the elderly, and design, promote and implement needed services.
The Woburn COA Senior Center provides information, referrals, outreach, advocacy, transportation, health screening, nutrition, education, peer support, recreation, volunteer development and intergenerational programming
Our SHINE (Serving Health Information Needs of Everyone) volunteer offers appointments every Monday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Tuesday, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon to assist seniors and their family members with health insurance questions and concerns. An attorney donates time at the Senior Center every month to offer half-hour appointments, free of charge, to seniors seeking answers to legal questions. A good place to start is to attend our open Council on Aging meeting, which meets the first Monday of the month at 10am. The following Thursday at 10am, our “Friends Helping Seniors” group meets to discuss volunteer opportunities and charitable work.
