PLEASE NOTE: The City of Woburn has accepted the provisions of Mass. General Laws (M.G.L.) Chapter 60, Section 23B. Effective July 1, 2014, the Municipal Lien Certificate fee schedule will change to the following fee schedule below:
Municipal Lien Certificate | Fee |
Land, Single, Two and Three Family | $25 |
Four or more Family | $100 |
Mixed use, Public Utility, Commercial and Industrial | $150 |
The collector of taxes for any city, or for any town having more than five thousand inhabitants, as determined by the last preceding national or state census, shall, on written application by any person, and within ten days thereafter, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and holidays furnish to such applicant a certificate of all taxes and other assessments, including water rates and charges and other charges due.
The Treasurer’s office upon written request, including a self addressed stamped envelope and payment of the fee will provide a Municipal Lien Certificate for properties located within the city. Our office cannot provide verbal tax information.
The average turnaround time for a municipal lien request is 48-72 hours from the receipt of the request and payment. However during periods of heavy volume it could be slightly longer.
The Treasurer’s office post receipts daily and municipal lien certificates are calculated to the day they are printed.
The municipal lien certificate includes per diem data for all outstanding amounts.
