Some information on the technology
The City Council will be using Zoom technology. You can learn more about Zoom at www.zoom.us You can join the meeting by computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone at the link above, or by calling the telephone number above. If you use a computer, you have to have at a minimum a microphone and speakers. You have to enable your microphone to work with Zoom. Some computer and smartphone earphones have a built-in microphone that work. When you connect to Zoom it may ask you to enable the microphone and you have to answer yes. You can also go into settings to allow the connection. It may be different for different devices, but you should be able to go to “settings”, then “privacy”, then “microphone” and then hit the button to enable the microphone on Zoom. You have to have speakers, headphone or earbuds connected to your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone. It may be different for different devices, but you should be able to go to “settings”, then “privacy”, then “speakers” and then hit the button to enable the speakers on Zoom. Video is not required but if you have a computer, laptop, tablet or are using a smartphone, you can enable the camera so that you will appear on the screen. If you do not, your name or an icon will appear on the screen. When you log into Zoom it may ask you if you want to enable the camera and if you respond yes, then you will appear on video. It may be different for different devices, but you should be able to go to “settings”, then “privacy”, then “camera” and then hit the button to enable the video on Zoom. The alternative is to call into the meeting using a telephone or smartphone.
