Mass Commissioner of Education Waives Spring 2020 MCAS tests

Governor Baker signed the Legislature’s “An Act to Further Address Challenges Faced by Municipalities, School Districts and State Authorities Resulting from COVID-19” late last week.  You can see a section-by-section summary of the bill by clicking here. The bill allows regional school districts to adopt temporary budgets to start fiscal 2021 if the annual regional school budget has not been adopted by the communities in the district by June 30, allows the Board of Education to waive high school graduation requirements for 2020, allows the Commissioner of Education to delay the school district plans required in the Student Opportunity Act, and waives the Spring 2020 MCAS test. The bill also delays the budget deadlines for the MBTA by a month.
