In partnership with the Woburn Senior Center, SCI Social Capital Inc. is launching its annual Snow Shoveling Program to help local senior citizens who will need assistance at their homes with snow shoveling.
SCI is seeking to recruit volunteers of all ages who are interested in assisting local senior citizens with shoveling their walkways for safe passage from and to their homes after a snow storm. This program is a valuable service for Woburn senior citizens who need assistance during winter months (December to March). Therefore volunteers will be asked to be available throughout the winter season or to be available on call.
After signing up, volunteers are matched with senior citizens, preferably within their residential area. Throughout the winter, volunteers will assist their assigned senior citizens with snow shoveling. The weather forecast will be monitored and volunteers will be notified when there will be snow and what to expect.
If you would like to volunteer, please sign up here: Shovel for Seniors!. For questions and more information contact Marie Santiago, SCI AmeriCorps Community Engagement Coordinator, at msantiago@socialcapitalinc.org.
For seniors who will need snow shoveling assistance this winter season please contact Lauren McDonald, Program & Volunteer Coordinator – Woburn Senior Center, by email at lmcdonald@cityofwoburn.com or directly by phone at 781-897-5963 to sign up.
