Winter Storm Parking Ban and Closures

Update 2/24 at 5:30 pm.

Big shout out of appreciation for DPW who worked straight through a really challenging storm. Their work is not done.
We’re doing everything we can to move quickly to reopen schools. That is our priority right now. There will be several days of clean up in general – widening roads, clearing hydrants, and doing sidewalks around schools and downtown.
Together, we’ll get through this blast from mother nature. Thank you to everyone who has stepped up to do your part. We know clearing your sidewalks and driveways has not been easy.
Only a few more weeks until spring!

Weather forecasts show a significant snowstorm is headed our way. Our public safety and DPW crews and contractors are ready.

Here are some important things to note.

TRASH DELAY WEEK OF 2/23

Waste Management has announced that trash/recycling pick-up will not happen on Monday (2/23). If Monday is your normal service day, it will be done on Tuesday. If Tuesday is your normal service day it will be done on Wednesday, and so on for the balance of the week.

PARKING BAN 6 PM SUNDAY (2/22) until 6 PM TUESDAY (2/24)

No parking either side of city streets.  A list of public parking lots for off-street parking is available https://woburnma.gov/winter-parking-lots/

The City will send a phone alert announcing the parking ban on Sunday 2/22. The on-street parking ban will allow road crews access to keep roadways clear. If you did not get a phone alert and would like to subscribe please visit Subscribe – City of Woburn for instructions.

Should the storm progress less intensely than the current forecast, the parking ban may be lifted sooner. If it is lifted before 6 pm on Tuesday 2/24 this page will be updated.

ROAD SAFETY AND SIDEWALKS

If possible, we encourage you to stay off the roads during heavy snow fall. If you are going to work or otherwise need to be on the road, please plan extra time and drive slowly.

We ask residents and businesses to clear sidewalks to the best of their ability. And encourage you to clear two exits from your home in case of emergency. Please remember the city is only responsible for a select set of sidewalks. The crew that clears those sidewalks also keeps the roads clear. With a long storm like we are expecting, there will be delays in sidewalk clearing.

Where it is safe to do so, your help keeping fire hydrants accessible is always appreciated.

SCHOOL CLOSURE

Woburn Public Schools will be closed on Monday 2/23 and Tuesday 2/24.

BUILDING CLOSURES

The Community Resource Center, Senior Center and Woburn Public Library, City Hall and Administrative Buildings will all be closed on Monday 2/23.

Senior Center and Woburn Public Library will be closed on Tuesday 2/24.
