Pursuant to Title III, Section 12 of the Charter of the City of Woburn, His Honor the
Mayor called a Special Meeting of the City Council to be held in the City Council
Chamber, Woburn City Hall, 10 Common Street, Woburn on Monday, June 27, 2016 at
6:00 p.m. to take action on an Order to transfer $1,497,137.54 from Mayor’s Salary
Adjustments Account to School Salary Account and on an Order to transfer the sum of $14,231.00 from Veterans Cash Aid Account to Essex North Shore School Account.

VOTED to dispense with the reading of the previous meeting’s Journal and to APPROVE, 6 in favor, 0 opposed, 3 absent (Campbell, Mercer-Bruen, Tedesco absent).

Motion made and 2nd to TAKE FROM THE TABLE the following two matters, 6 in favor, 0 opposed, 3 absent (Campbell, Mercer-Bruen, Tedesco absent). _________________________

On the Order to transfer the sum of $14,231.00 from Veteran’s Cash Aid Account to Essex North Shore School Account. Alderman Gately asked why the money is being taken from the Veteran’s Cash Aid Account to pay for a student to go Essex North Shore School. President Haggerty stated that the money is to pay for an additionial student that is attending the school, and that the money was extra money that the Veteran’s agent would not need to complete this fiscal year. Alderman Concannon stated that the amount of money that the City pays for out of district students is constantly increasing, that the city should take a look at the current courses that are being offered at out of town schools and look into offering them in Woburn to keep students in the Woburn School system, and that the number of out of district student is increasing and is getting more expensive every year. Motion made and 2nd that a communication be sent to the School Department requesting information as to the number of students from Woburn attending Essex North Shore School, 6 in favor, 0 opposed, 3 absent (Campbell, Mercer-Bruen, Tedesco absent). Motion made and 2nd that the ORDER be ADOPTED, 6 in favor, 0 opposed, 3 absent (Campbell, Mercer-Bruen, Tedesco absent).
