Woburn’s Open Space and Recreation Plan gets State Approval

Woburn’s updated Open Space and Recreation Plan recently received State approval, marking a significant milestone in the City’s commitment to preserving natural resources and providing diverse recreational opportunities for its residents. The plan, driven by community engagement and collaboration, outlines key goals such as offering active and passive recreational options for all residents and visitors, managing existing recreation and conservation lands effectively, safeguarding natural resources, acquiring new open space lands, and protecting cultural and historic resources. The City is required to update their Open Space and Recreation Plan every seven years to remain eligible for State Grants and other resources. With the State’s approval, Woburn can continue to leverage financial assistance and other support to help aid and implement these goals through at least 2030, ensuring a robust and accessible outdoor facilities and opportunities for the community.
