Massachusetts General Law Ch. 121B

Massachusetts General Law Chapter 121B outlines the powers of redevelopment authorities which include the authority to accept Federal grants and to act as an urban renewal agency to eliminate and redevelop substandard, decadent or blighted open areas.  The redevelopment authority, as an independent body politic and corporate, is not a city agency.  This affords the redevelopment authority more autonomy in planning and implementing certain redevelopment and revitalization projects.
